Mumbai: One gone and two more to go, is the equation for Minerva Punjab FC, as on Thursday they heaved a sigh of relief after the Odisha government granted them permission to use Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium for their AFC Cup one of their home matches to be played on May 1.
They have two more matches to go one each on June 19 and 26, for which they have not yet identified venues. They have however now, are looking at Guwahati and Fatorda in Goa to lease them out. And with this development, their threat to shut down the team has taken the back seat.
Minerva had earlier alleged that on the All India Football Federation’s insistence, the Odisha government had withdrawn permission to use the stadium against Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal for the Group E match.”Yes, we have got the venue for the first match, and it would be Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar for the May 1 match,” said Bajaj.
