Nashik Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Manisha Khatri conducted a field visit to the Godavari river area on Wednesday to assess ongoing and proposed developments under the ambitious Ram Kal Path project. She was accompanied by key officials, including Additional Commissioners Pradip Chaudhary and Smita Zagde, City Engineer Sanjay Agarwal, Assistant Director Town Planning Kalpesh Patil, Executive Engineer Sandesh Shinde and Deputy Commissioner of Encroachment Mayur Patil.

She informed that the Ram Kal Path project, part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and an integral project in Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's 'War Room', aims to preserve the mythological and religious significance of the Godavari river while addressing critical issues in the area. The challenges include unauthorised constructions and encroachments, handcarts, vegetable stalls, haphazard parking, vehicles and clothes being washed in the river, unregulated traffic flow and other issues.

Commissioner Khatri pointed out the importance of maintaining the sanctity and cultural heritage of the Godavari river area. The Town Planning Department was directed to conduct a thorough survey and create a detailed list of unauthorised constructions and river-side structures.

Plans for organised development

During the inspection, Commissioner Khatri instructed the Advertising and Licensing Department to collect data on authorised and unauthorised vendors operating in the area. Officials also evaluated the need for infrastructure improvements.

Key proposals discussed included the construction of roads, stretching from the Ahilya Bai Holkar Bridge to the Talakuteshwar Bridge and onward to the Ram Mandir. These developments aim to improve accessibility while ensuring the orderly development of the Ram Kal Path area.
