Nashik MP Rajabhau Waje paid a courtesy visit to Union Minister of Labour and Employment Dr Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on July 29 and held an in-depth discussion on the problems, needs and limitations of workers in Nashik and its surrounding areas. In this meeting, he presented a concrete stand on many important issues of workers' welfare and demanded immediate attention from the Ministry.
ESIC Hospital and Workers' Welfare Issues
MP Waje drew the special attention of Minister Mandaviya to the progress of the proposed new ESIC hospital at Sinnar. This hospital will be of great benefit to thousands of industrial workers and their families. Therefore, he demanded immediate provision of necessary administrative assistance to expedite this project.
The ESIC hospital currently functioning in Nashik city is facing serious problems like shortage of staff and medical equipment, as well as pending bills of private hospitals on the panel. While presenting a detailed review of these problems, MP Waje demanded an immediate solution. Along with this, he thanked the Central Government for the new 250-bed ESIC hospital, which was approved due to his consistent follow-up.
Demand for separate law for unorganised workers
MP Waje made an important demand that a separate and dedicated law should be brought in Parliament to ensure that workers in the unorganised sector such as househelp, construction workers and manual labourers, also get facilities like ESIC, PF and pension. He explained that this will help women in particular get financial security and health facilities.
Minister Mandaviya listened to all the issues seriously and assured to take necessary action after immediate discussions with the concerned departments. Stating that the central government is committed to the welfare of workers, he expressed confidence that the ministry will make every effort to provide the desired services to Nashik district.
Reaction of MP Rajabhau Waje
"Workers are the backbone of the country, if they remain healthy in every way, the country will also remain healthy. Due to your continuous support, the number of beds in the ESIC hospital in Nashik has increased from 100 to 250. A new ESIC hospital is being built at Sinnar for the rural areas. I thank the minister for that. Also, my insistence will continue to be that unorganised workers also get facilities as per the labour law."
