Mumbai: Toppers of the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) have revealed that they did not get time to participate in any creative, performing art or sports activities throughout the year as they dedicated all their time to studies. Two students from the city shared the first position as results of MHT CET, the entrance examination for technical and medical courses, were announced on Monday.

Priyant Jain, a student of Jhunjhunwala College, Ghatkopar, topped from the city with a total score of 99.98 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) subjects. Jain, who attended coaching classes, said, “I did not follow any of my hobbies or participate in

any sports activities. I did not get time to do anything else apart from my studies. I studied for six to seven hours daily.” Jain revealed that he prepared for the Class 12 board examinations, CET and the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced simultaneously. “The pressure of scoring well in entrance tests and preparing for admissions to technical courses is stressful. I do not think anyone gets time to indulge in any activity if we are preparing for three big examinations at the same time,” Jain added.

Kimaya Shikarkhane, a student of PACE integrated college, Dadar, scored 99.98 per cent in PCM subjects. Shikarkhane, who studied for eight to 10 hours daily, said, “I solved question papers and read Class 12 textbooks for eight to 10 hours daily and used the remaining time to eat and get sufficient sleep. I could not find time to participate in any creative or recreational activities. I prepared for my JEE Advanced examination too as I want to study at IIT.”

Over 3.92 lakh students appeared for the MHT CET this year at 166 examination centres. A senior officer of the state CET cell said, “These examinations were conducted in two phases where 2.76 lakh students appeared for PCM group and 2.81 lakh appeared for Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB).”
