Thane: Woman dies while trying to get back snatched phone, two arrested

A 27-year-old woman died after falling from a train when two miscreants snatched her mobile from while she was travelling in an auto-rickshaw. The Naupada police in Thane have arrested two people in this regard.

According to the police, the incident took place on June 9, Wednesday evening, when Kanmila Raisingh, 27, a resident of Santacruz was traveling with friend, Lalgursangi Fenchun, 30, the complainant is the case.

Both work in Mayo spa centre at Viviana mall and after completing work at 7:50pm on Wednesday they boarded an auto-rickshaw MH 04 BY 1630 outside the mall, the police said.

"The auto-rickshaw was heading on the Mumbai-Nashik highway on teenhath flyover. When incidentally two bike borne men came near the auto-rickshaw and one of them snatched her mobile phone. Raisingh lost her balance and fell off from the auto-rickshaw. She was been shifted to Kalwa civic hospital where doctors declared her death.

The Naupada police have arrested two people, Alkesh Ansari (20) and Sohel Ansari (18), both from Bhiwandi.

The Naupada police registered a case of robbery and culpable homicide murder under section 392, 304 and 34 of the Indian penal code.

The police scrutinized CCTV footage from the vicinity and also checked the call data record of the victim mobile number to get clues of the accused.

"We have arrested the two accused and are investigating the matter. We are checking if the two who have any past criminal record", said a police officer.
