Suspected arms agent held with revolver

Bhayandar : A 25-year-old youth, suspected to be the agent of an inter-state gang that deals with arms landed in the custody of the Nallasopara police late on Sunday night.

According to the police, following a tip-off that a suspected member of a gang that deals with arms would arrive in Nallasopara, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector, Dilip Landge, laid a trap in the Hanuman Nagar area and arrested the accused, identified as Ritesh Sheshnath Pandey (25).

The accused was found to be carrying a fully loaded country-made revolver.

“We are trying to find out the source of the firearm and to whom it was meant to be supplied,” Landge said. A case under the relevant sections of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused who has been remanded to police custody.

Further investigations are on.
