Bhayandar : In a grim reminder of the deteriorating law and order scenario in the rural parts of Thane district, a gang of unidentified robbers broke into a flat in Bhayandar (east) during the wee hours on Friday and decamped with booty of more than Rs 2.5 lakh including gold ornaments and cash.

According to the police, the break-in was reported from the house of Ashwin Patel, in the Shantivan Complex area of Navghar in Bhayandar (east).
All the occupants of the flats were out of city, raising a strong suspicion that the miscreants conducted a recce before striking the locked flat.
A case of theft has been registered against unidentified miscreants, police said. While there were no onduty security guards, no CCTV cameras had been installed in the residential complex. Further investigations are on.
