Navi Mumbai: In a major crackdown under the "Drug-Free Navi Mumbai" campaign, police raided a house in Digha's Ishwar Nagar and seized ganja, MD powder, and Indian and foreign liquor worth Rs 38.79 lakh.
The accused, Jeevan Baban Dhakane (27), has been arrested, and a case has been registered under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Maharashtra Prohibition Act at Rabale MIDC Police Station.

About The Case
Navi Mumbai Crime Branch Unit-I got information that a woman and her son were allegedly stocking and selling ganja, mephedrone (MD), and liquor. Following this, a police team led by Senior Inspector Niraj Chaudhary and Sub-Inspectors Sachin Barate and Prashant Kumbhar raided the suspect’s house in CIDCO Chawl, Ishwar Nagar, on Friday night.
"During the search, we recovered 21.74 kg of ganja, 170 grams of MD, 20 litres of illicit liquor, and multiple bottles of Indian and foreign liquor. The total value of the seized contraband amounts to Rs 38.79 lakh. The accused has been remanded to police custody until March 18," PI Chaudhary said.
The police are now investigating the source of the contrabands and alcohol that have been seized in the raid. The accused has no previous criminal records yet.
The police have found that a mother-son duo from Digha were the main peddlers who provided the drugs to Dhakane for further distribution. The crime branch is on look out of the mother-son duo.
