The Agri community along with like minded association has convened a special meeting to ensure that the upcoming international airport at Navi Mumbai is named after social activist D.B Patil.
The meeting is a joint venture by the All Party Action committee and Akhil Agri Samaj Parishad. The meeting is to be conducted at 11 am at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association on Saturday. "
“ The meeting has been convened to once again reinforce the residents' demands of naming the upcoming airport after the social activist. He is a revered leader who fought for the rights of the farmers especially during the land acquisitions undertaken by the government in 1970s,’ said an official.
The gathering intends to identify the means to get the resolution implemented at the earliest.
The proposal to name the airport after D.B. Patil has garnered immense support from various quarters. “ Earlier a resolution to name the airport as DB Patil International Airport was passed and the same was given to the Union government. Even at the centre the matter has been approved but a formal notification is awaited and these and many other topics will be discussed,” said the official.
