Mumbai: Three persons including a 17-year-old minor were arrested by Worli police for beating a man to death at Worli for allegedly stealing their mobile phone on Sunday. One of their accomplices, involved in the murder, is on the run. The minor has been sent to juvenile remand home, said Worli police officials.

The accused identified as Saddam Shaha, 35, and Ravikumar Gautam, 25, along with their accomplices caught hold of the accused, who is yet to be identified, tied him an electric pole and thrashed him with a metal rod and sticks till he fell unconscious, said Worli police officials.

Later, Worli police received a call informing about the unknown man lying near an electric pole at Khau Galli near Doordarshan at Worli. A team of Worli police officials rushed the man to a nearby hospital where he was brought dead. The deceased, who has a tattoo on his hand which reads “Aakasha”, had injuries caused by a blunt object all over his body, said Worli police officials.

Worli police in its investigation found the involvement of the two accused who work as labourers in the area and arrested them. Anil Koli senior inspector of Worli police station said, “All the accused are labourers and have been arrested on charges of murder, wrongful confinement and common intention as defined under section 302, 342 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.”
