Mumbai: The Navghar Police have registered a case against Mahesh Mohansingh Rajput, a 55-year-old resident of Badlapur, on charges of allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl. Rajput was employed as a caretaker for the victim's ailing father. He is accused of making lewd gestures and attempting to establish intimacy with the minor girl.
Harassment Spanned Nearly Two Months
According to the police, the disturbing incidents occurred between June 1 and July 28 at Tata Colony in Mulund East. Rajput was hired by the victim's family to care for her father.
The accused allegedly developed an inappropriate interest in the girl, obtaining her mobile number and sending her unwanted messages on WhatsApp. He is also accused of attempting to get close to her when she was home alone.
Family Files Complaint After Girl Confides
Police state that Rajput consistently pressured the victim to engage with him. Overwhelmed by the daily harassment, the girl eventually confided in her family. With their support, she lodged a complaint at the Navghar police station on July 29.

Case Registered Under POCSO and BNS Acts
The Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
