Mumbai: The Metropolitan Magistrate court, at Esplanade center has convicted a 23-year-old Shahida Aalamgir Mulla alias Mahi Choudhary, a Bangladeshi national for illegally entering in India and staying without proper documents. She has been sentenced to three months imprisonment and ordered to be deported back to Bangladesh.

The court while refusing to grant her leniency, observed, "A citizen of another country who is foreigner to India cannot claim the same rights and facilities in India as like the Indian citizen."

"Even though, the accused stayed here and purported herself to be the Indian national. To my mind if such leniency is given, the same may prove dangerous to the national security and even to the economic reasons when numbers because of such unauthorized entries the foreigners can be taxing on the economy of India," the court further added.

As per the prosecution case, Choudhary was arrested on February 27, by an officer from Sakinaka police station based on the information that she is a Bangladeshi national and has been illegally staying in India.
