Thane: A 45-year-old journalist, Nityanand Pandey’s body was found with injury marks in the head in a Khardi pool situated at Bhiwandi on Saturday afternoon.

Bhiwandi Taluka police said that, in the beginning we registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) but after tracing his family from Mira Road and informing them about Pandey’s death, the family members went into trauma.  Nityanand Pandey (45), who was an editor of the monthly news magazine India Unbound, published interviews of several IPS and IAS officers and bureaucrats.

According to the police, the family members have alleged foul play and they suspect it could be a case of a murder. As per a family member’s statement, the deceased Pandey left his house at around 7.30 am from Mira Road on March 15 and as he did not turn up on that day, on March 16, they filed a missing person’s case at Kashimira police station.

The police has sent his body to the JJ Hospital for post-mortem to know the exact cause of his death.  Motiram Pawar, police sub inspector, Bhiwandi Taluka said, “We are now probing the case giving a different angle to it. Since the body has been sent to the JJ Hospital, once the report is out then we will surely start a thorough probe.”
