Mumbai: A 27-year-old jewellery maker from Dindoshi, Malad, has been found murdered inside his workshop on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Nitesh Soni. Soni was in the jewellery making business since past many years but for the last four years, he has started operating from his house itself. On Saturday, his relatives and jewellers for whom he used to make jewellery tried contacting him, but in vain.

In the evening, his cousin Sagar Soni (23) went to see him at Omprakash chawl in Dindoshi and found lights were on and the door was locked from inside. He rang the bell a few times but did not get any response. When Sagar looked from a window he shocked to see Nitesh lying in a pool of blood after which he immediately called the police. “We broke open the door and found Nitesh lying on the floor, there was a deep stab injury close to his right eye”, said an official from the Dindoshi police station. “Since there was no forced entry into his house we suspect a known person should be behind the murder. Currently it is difficult to say the reason behind the murder and what has been stolen from the house but we are calling jewellers and taking their statements”, added the official. Nitesh’s body has been sent to post mortem. Dindoshi police have registered a murder case against unknown persons while crime branch has stared a parallel investigation.
