Mumbai: A CCTV video has emerged showing a seven-year-old boy and his mother repeatedly hitting a three-year-old child inside a lift at a high-rise building in Mumbai. The clip also shows the three-year-old’s caretaker shielding the child as he is repeatedly beaten by the boy and his mother.
The footage shows the seven-year-old boy hitting the minor multiple times in the lift at Kanakia Paris, a luxury residential project in Bandra Kurla Complex. The boy’s mother was also seen using her son’s hand to hit the three-year-old.

The incident occurred in the presence of the three-year-old’s caretaker, who was holding the victim’s 22-month-old sibling. Despite her efforts, the woman continued to assault the toddler. The three-year-old’s father, identified as Shrinivasan Ramchandran, has filed a complaint against the woman, Priyanka Gandhi, and her son.
Police have registered a case under Section 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, which deals with punishment for voluntarily causing hurt. A police officer privy to the investigation later said a notice was given to the accused in order to behave properly. The sections invoked do not invite arrest as it is a non-cognisable offence.
