Three security guards were booked for animal cruelty after six puppies went missing from the under-construction luxurious residential project in BKC. Animal activists have also alleged that one of the puppies was run over by a vehicle after the security guard forcefully relocated it.

The Kherwadi police have booked three security officials after an animal activist complained that six dogs have went missing .

According to the complainant Satyasheel Rudrakar (50), an engineer living in a nearby society, he used to feed a dog and her newborn puppies at Gate No. 7 and 8 of the project site. He alleged that on December 14, security guard Dilip Singh and security incharge Indra Bahadur Singh allegedly restricted him from feeding the dogs.

Rudrakar alleged that after he was stopped from feeding the dogs, he went to check the whereabouts of the dogs and found that all of them were forcefully relocated from the project site. He claimed to have found one puppy from nearby the site but six puppies are still missing. He also alleged that he had seen Singh relocating one of the puppies.

Roshan Pathak, animal welfare officer and legal advisor with PAL Foundation, said, “One of the puppies has died after it was relocated and brought on the ground floor from its place of birth on the sixth floor. The puppy ran outside the society’s gate and was apparently run over by an unknown vehicle. The security guard accepted that they had buried the body inside the society. Although the security officials did not kill the puppy but it died only after it was relocated.”

The relocation and missing of puppies led to a brawl between animal activists and the security officials at the site, following which an FIR was registered on Thursday late evening. Apart from the security guard and security incharge, the security supervisor Ganesh Kamble has also been booked by the Kherwadi police. Animal activists Rohit Kumar and Rakesh Mukka along with advocates Vijendra Jabra and Preeti Salaskar helped the complainant in registering the FIR.
