Mumbai: 30-Year-Old Drunk Man Dies While Performing Stunt On Moving Rickshaw In Kandivali; Driver Booked For Negligence

A 30-year-old man allegedly died while performing a stunt on a moving rickshaw under the influence of alcohol in Kandivali West. The incident took place on December 25. The police have lodged a case against the auto-rickshaw driver, Shivkumar Shetty, 34.

Mumbai: A 30-year-old man allegedly died while performing a stunt on a moving rickshaw under the influence of alcohol in Kandivali West. The incident took place on December 25. The police have lodged a case against the auto-rickshaw driver, Shivkumar Shetty, 34.

The deceased has been identified as Bhushan Bandekar. Bandekar and Shetty were friends and had gone out to a party when the incident occurred. According to the police, Shetty was not under the influence of alcohol, and a notice has been issued to him.

According to the FIR, Bandekar, who resided in Malad West with his family, was a tempo driver. On December 25, around 11.30 p.m., Bandekar went to a party with three friends. One of his friends, Shivkumar Shetty, owned the auto-rickshaw, and they were travelling to Hindustan Naka in Kandivali West for the party. Bandekar was already drunk before the journey. While seated in the auto, Bandekar started performing stunts.

When the auto-rickshaw reached the Sagar Marble Granite shop on MG Road in Kandivali West, Bandekar hung out of the left side of the auto and struck a tempo that was parked on the side. He fell and sustained serious head injuries. His friends immediately transported him to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West, where he was pronounced dead at around 12.45 a.m.

Bandekar's wife filed a complaint against Shetty. The police registered a case under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on December 26 and issued a notice to Shetty. Shetty, who resides in Dahanukar Wadi in Kandivali West. The police said that Shetty was not under the influence of alcohol.
