Mumbai: Different abled, senior citizens and students will get 25% discount during their Mumbai Metro journey starting May 1.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that they will be entitled for the discount starting on the occasion of Maharashtra Day.

Discount on Mumbai 1 Pass for 45 trips or 60 trips

Shinde announced, “We have designed the Mumbai Metro network keeping in mind the needs and safety of senior citizens, disabled and children, so they must get the maximum benefit of these facilities. Earlier we have made the state transport travel free for senior citizens and women have also been given 50% discount on these buses. We have taken these decisions in the spirit of society and I hope that more people will travel through this metro travel discount.”

The discount will be given on the Mumbai 1 National Common Mobility Card. The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will roll out the discount scheme on Mumbai Metro 2A and 7 corridors operating in the western suburbs of Mumbai.

As per the discount plans chalked out, senior citizens, students and differently abled passengers will get this discount on Mumbai 1 Pass for 45 trips or 60 trips.

This facility is for senior citizens above 65 years, students studying up to class 12 and people with permanent disabilities. Passengers under these three categories have to submit some documents for availing the concession. Valid documents like government or medical organisation Certificate for persons with disabilities, age proof for senior citizens and school identity card along with PAN (Student or Parent PAN) for students will be required.

All these discounts can be availed at any ticket window of Metro Lines 2A and 7 on presentation of the required documents. New and previously purchased Mumbai 1 cards will also be discounted and will remain valid for 30 days. Mumbai 1 card can be used and recharged during travel at retail stores, petrol pumps and BEST buses.
