Mira-Bhayandar: MBVV Cops Bust High-Profile Prostitution Racket At Mira Road Spa; Minor Among 3 Rescued, Owner Absconding

The anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police busted yet another high-profile prostitution racket which was operating under the guise of a spa and wellness centre in Mira Road.

Mira-Bhayandar: The anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police busted yet another high-profile prostitution racket which was operating under the guise of a spa and wellness centre in Mira Road.

Acting on a tip-off about the flesh trade activities, a team led by police inspector- Devidas Handore and ASI-Umesh Patil deputed a decoy customer to establish contact and strike a deal with the spa operator.

After confirming the authenticity of the information, the police team swooped down on Meraki Thai Spa in the Ramdev Park area of Mira Road at around 4:35 pm on Wednesday.

The team rescued two women (aged 24 and 31 years) and a minor girl from the premises and safely sent them to a rehabilitation centre after completing the legal formalities. Ironically, the owner and manager of the establishment are still absconding.

“The manager had gone out for some work minutes before we raided the spa. He apparently saw the live feeds of the raid on his mobile phone connected to closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras and never returned. However, he and the owner will be arrested soon.” said an investigating officer.

Meanwhile an offence under the relevant sections of the A case under section 370 of the IPC and the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act-2012 has been registered against the owner and manager of the spa had not only hosted a flashy website but were also floating advertisements on prominent web portals and social media platforms to promote their prostitution activities and lure potential clientele under the guise of offering massage services.
