Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday inspected repair and maintenance work on the pothole-ridden stretch near Gaymukh on Thane’s Ghodbunder Road.

Shinde said he had earlier directed urgent action after severe traffic congestion in the area caused inconvenience to motorists. He stated that the damaged portion of the road will be completely removed down to the base, followed by grouting with WBM, laying of asphalt, and mastication to prevent potholes from recurring frequently.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, Thane District Collector Dr. Shrikant Panchal, and Public Works Department officials and staff accompanied him during the inspection.

Ghodbunder Road is a key arterial link in Thane, connecting the Eastern and Western Express Highways. It also serves as a crucial route for traffic moving between Mumbai, Thane, and Gujarat. Heavy vehicular movement, coupled with monsoon damage, often leads to the development of potholes along this stretch, causing traffic bottlenecks and safety hazards.
