Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed the heavy rainfall situation in Nagpur on Wednesday, as the city faced severe waterlogging due to continuous rains. According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the situation is currently under control, but authorities remain on high alert.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Legislative Assembly that the flood situation in East Vidarbha, triggered by heavy rainfall, is under control. He said that passengers stranded in a State Transport (S.T.) bus due to the rain were moved to a nearby school and later safely sent home.

In an X post shared by the CM Fadnavis. He mentioned that the Gadchiroli to Nagpur (Armori) road is currently closed, and traffic is being diverted through an alternate route. An alert has been issued for citizens up to Gadchiroli due to water released from the Gosikhurd Dam. Rescue operations have started in low-lying areas of Nagpur where water has accumulated. He also reported that one person was swept away in this flood situation.

Given the situation, NDRF and SDRF teams are on standby, and an orange alert has been declared in the Nagpur district. Authorities are closely monitoring the developments. CM Fadnavis also urged citizens to take necessary safety precautions.

The resident told the news agency ANI, "Water has filled up to the waist. Cars have drowned. Water has entered the house. I have been living here for the last 7-8 years, and the same situation occurs here every year when it rains." Another resident said, "This area has been severely waterlogged for the last three days. It is not possible to come and go from here. The entire road is blocked. Houses and cars are completely submerged," as reported.
