Magic passes to cost less from Wed

Mumbai : BEST commuters will be able to buy magic pass for the island city at Rs 40 and for the suburbs at Rs 50 for non-AC buses, announced General Manager of BEST Jagdish Patil on Monday.  Those who want to travel in the city as well as the suburbs will get a magic pass for Rs 70.  The announcement was made following the BEST’s proposal for the same was approved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

From Wednesday, commuters will be able to buy monthly magic passes (for non-AC buses) at Rs 975 for the island city and Rs 1,200 for the suburbs.

The cost of monthly passes has been reduced after it was raised to Rs 1,700 following two consecutive hikes in February and April.  Quarterly magic passed will cost Rs 2,825 for the island city and Rs 3,475 for suburbs.

Chairman of BEST committee Arvind Dudhwadkar said:  “The reduction in the fare of the passes will encourage people to use BEST bus services.”  BEST will also allow dialysis patients to board a bus using the front entry. However, they will have to carry a medical certificate to avail the benefit.
