Temperature falls to season’s lowest, four degrees below normal
Mumbai : The Mumbaikars felt the winter setting in last week with the temperature dropping to 17 degrees Celcius, giving huge relief from the scorching heat and humidity. However, on Friday, the weather turned from pleasant to chilling as the temperature dropped to season’s lowest at 14 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, Mumbai city recorded maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and minimum of 14 degrees at Santacruz and maximum of 27 degrees and minimum of 19 degrees Celsius in Colaba. The temperature recorded was 4 degrees below the normal temperature.
According to IMD, the northerly and northwesterly winds are causing the dropping of temperatures making the atmosphere in the city very cold. The weather in Mumbai city and outskirts for the coming week is expected to be similarly cold with a minimum temperature of around 15 degrees Celsius combined with dry weather and clear skies.
Early mornings and late nights have been particularly cold in the last few days with schoolchildren, college students and officegoers seen covered up in sweaters and scarves in the mornings. At many places, especially outside railway stations and markets, many stalls selling winter clothing have cropped up.
