Mumbai: After a few vehicles from the state were attacked in Belgaum, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) on Tuesday temporarily stopped the services to Karnataka. A senior MSRTC officer told the Free Press Journal, ‘’Due to the prevailing law and order situation, MSRTC services to Karnataka have been temporarily stopped on the advice of the police. Daily about 50 buses ply to Karnataka from Maharashtra. Besides, an alert has been sounded to the passengers while travelling in the border areas.’’
After attacks on vehicles from Maharashtra by 'Kannada Rakshana Vedika Sangathan,’ the security has been beefed up on Maharashtra Karnataka borders. The Thackeray camp activists staged a protest in Kolhapur to protest against attacks on vehicles from Maharashtra at Belgaum.

In a related development, the Thackeray camp activists took out a morcha at Swargate bus stand in Pune and they blocked the buses which have come from Karnataka there.
Meanwhile, the home department took the law and order situation and asked the police from border districts to keep a close vigil to avoid any untoward incident.
