Before her Bollywood debut last year, Kritika was already a household name courtesy her roles in teleseries including ‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge’, ‘Reporters’ and ‘Prem Ya Paheli – Chandrakanta’. Always impeccably dressed, she deconstructs her style code…

Fashion for me is: An expression of my individuality.

Wardrobe must-haves: Tailored white shirt, fitted evening dress, comfortable pair of shorts, black pumps.

What’s trending: Bling is trending right now. It’s all about metallics and sequin. I think it’s fun and glamorous. In the age of Instagram you have to be living under a rock to not know about current trends and styles. Like all of us, social media keeps me updated. I went to the National Institute of Fashion Technology so I have a keen interest in fashion and follow a lot of fashion pages and blogs too.

Signature style: Minimalistic chic. I think understated is elegant.

Get the perfect look: If you are confident, you look cool in anything. The idea is to feel good. If you feel perfect, you look perfect.

Favourite designers: Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Anamika Khanna, Sanjay Garg, Anita Dongre and Gaurav Khanijo.

Favourite high-street brands: Topshop, Zara, Anthropologie.

I look best in: In a sari.

Favourite outfit: A summer dress…It’s easy and feminine.

Favourite accessory: Rings.

Preferred footwear: I like clean cuts and high heels.

I have a fetish for: Vintage jewellery.

Fashion tip: Less is more. Make it fun but never busy.

Best dressed Bollywood actors: Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

How to be comfortable and still look fashionable: Everybody knows what suits them best. Instead of blindly following a trend that I may not be comfortable in, I pick up elements and make them my own, as per my body type and skin. It’s fun to experiment, but everything is not for everybody and that’s fine. Keep it easy and comfortable, because that never goes out of fashion.

Hair care tip: Never skip the pre-heat product, even if it’s a blast dry. Heat damages hair more than anything else.

My skin care routine includes: Cleanser, toner, moisturiser in the day. A water-based SPF on top. For night, I use a face oil or overnight face balms as I have dry skin.
