International Picnic Day is celebrated on 18 June. People love this day as they get a chance to devour delicious food with wonderful company.
Since this day falls in June, some people may experience rainy weather. But they don't have to fear as they can always have an indoor picnic.
History of International Picnic Day:
The word "picnic" probably gets its origins from the French language, specifically from the word "pique-nique". It is believed that this type of informal outdoor meal became a popular pastime in France after the French Revolution in the mid 1800s when it was possible again to get out in the country's royal parks. This fun, lovely activity may have begun in France but people love it and now practice it all over the world.
What items can you put in your picnic basket?
1. Yoghurt cups and handmade granola
2. Whole wheat English muffins and peanut butter
3. Fresh fruits like bananas, apples, peaches and pears
4. Milk boxes
5. Cold pasta salad
6. Tiny finger sandwiches
7. Cut vegetables to dip in hummus
How you can celebrate a picnic during this pandemic?
There are a number of things that we have to do differently now due to the coronavirus pandemic. But just because it has to be done differently, doesn't mean that it's not doable. You can always have a virtual picnic. You can prepare a meal and send part of your meal to another person and have a chat on Zoom and this way you can enjoy a good meal along with some good company.
