Indore: There is no need of assisted medicine for 80 percent of women for delivering a healthy baby as a healthy woman can give birth to a healthy baby naturally by following precautions. Natural birthing expert from United Arab Emirates Karen Pagarani stated this while talking to mediapersons on sidelines of ‘Invigorating learning and unlearning session on natural birthing’ organised by Choithram Hospital and Research Centre and Indore Obstetrics and Gynaecologists Society here on Sunday. Pagarani said giving assisted medicines (pregnancy related medicines like IV, antibiotics and others) to a woman during pregnancy when it is not required can lead to complications.
“Number of caesarean deliveries is increasing in India compared to other countries as more than 55 percent to 60 percent are c-section deliveries in the country. Comparing the rate of c-sections in UK and UAE, she said number is low as people prefer natural birthing more,” she added. The natural birthing expert blamed unnecessary fear and lack of inner strength in people as the reason for increase in caesarean cases. “People don’t want to face small complications and pain of natural delivery. They force the doctors to go for c-sections,” she added.
Talking about natural birthing, Pagarani said, “Process of natural birthing starts before a woman gets pregnant as she is advised to do various exercises and to make necessary changes in diet. There is no use of antibiotic, scalpel or any drip in natural birthing process and it strengthens the bonding of mother and children along with strengthening the immunity of the baby.” Gynaecology department head in Choithram Hospital Dr Neelu Soni said it is responsibility of gynaecologists to counsel the patient and motivate them for normal delivery.
