Two held with ganja worth Rs 6.5 lakh

NARSINGHPUR : On a tip-off, the Kareli police nab two persons near Krishna Dhaba in Kareli and seized 50-kilogram illicit ganza worth over Rs 6.5 lakh from the suitcase of them. The arrested drug peddlers seems to be the members of inter-state gang, indulged in smuggling of illicit drugs.

District police superintendent Mukesh Shrivastava informed in a press conference that for the past days the supply of illicit ganza in Hoshangabad, Raisen and Sagar district has been increased. On Saturday, the police got a tip-off that two persons are coming with illicit ganza, after Kareli TI Aravind Dubey formed collecting clues, a team led by SDOP DP Shrivastava took action. After getting the information, the police team swung into action, reached at Krishna Dhaba of town, and found two suspicious persons carrying two big suitcases.

Police searched the suitcase and recovered 50 of packets of illicit ganza of one kg each, worth over Rs 6.5 lakh. Police arrested both the accused named Vinay Sahu (35), resident of village Panagar under Gadarwara police station and Raja, (19), resident of Soahagpur. The accused informed during the interrogations that they have brought the ganza from Raipur, (Chhattisgarh). Police registered a case under section 8/20 of NDPS Act.
