Soaring fuel price: Congress stages protests across Meghnagar

Meghnagar: To protest against the soaring prices of petroleum products, Congress party workers staged demonstrations across the district on Friday.

On the call of state Congress, party workers staged protests in every tehsil of the district while as of Friday, the price of petrol in Meghnagar stood at Rs 104.70 while that of diesel at Rs 96 and LPG at Rs 857.

They raised slogans against the hike in prices of petrol, diesel and against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress leaders and workers gathered at the petrol pump of Indian Oil at Meghnagar Bus Stand on Friday and staged a protest.

Block Congress president Yameen Shaikh said that crores of people of the country are suffering due to increase in the price of petroleum products.Party leaders said that if the government does not control the prices of petrol and diesel by next one month, then the Congress will launch an aggressive movement against inflation in the whole country to give voice to the suffering of the people.

Under the leadership of Thandla MLA Veer Singh Bhuria and Block Congress president Yameen Sheikh, in Meghnagar, after the sloganeering, the Congressmen took out the funeral procession of a motorbike in the whole area regarding the exorbitant price hike of petrol, flouting the Covid norms.
