Indore : Candidates who came to take Dental and Medical Admission Test-2015 (DMAT) had to face trouble in taking the exam following technical glitches in the server and mismanagement at various centres in the city, on Sunday. However, the DMAT exam was cancelled by the Association of Private Medical and Dental College, Madhya Pradesh.
Thousands of candidates appeared in the exam at nine centres of the city for getting admission in MBBS in private medical and dental colleges of the State. Incident of manhandling with an invigilator by the parents of candidates was also reported at Indore Public School. According to businessman Sanjeev Arora, who had gone to IPS to drop his niece, stated that more than 250 students were taking exam at IPS, which was started at noon.
“The reporting time of the exam was 7 am and it was started at noon. After an hour, systems of more than 150 students were rebooted due to some technical problems. All the attempted questions of students were cancelled but the invigilator gave only 1 hour additional time for attempting the exam,” Arora said.
Meanwhile, enraged by the behaviour of invigilator, parents of candidates started creating a ruckus at the centre when the administrators failed to inform them about the status of the exam. A woman even tried to thrash the invigilator with her sandal while agitating there. Mumbai-based Dr AK Singh, who came to the centre with his daughter, also mentioned about mismanagement at the centre.
Similar situation was prevailed at Malwa Institute of Technology when students refused to give exam after the administrators didn’t provide them rough sheets and pencils to solve the calculations of physics. Large number of students also reached Lasudia police station to lodge a complaint against mismanagement in the exam but to no avail.
Later, the candidates and parents were informed by the centre in-charges about cancellation of the exam. The officials notice was also released by APMDC on its website in the evening. It is to be noted that APMDC has cancelled the exam for the second time as it was scheduled to be held on July 12, earlier.
It was cancelled by the association for seeking more time to make strict arrangements to avoid any foul play after the direction of Madhya Pradesh High Court. The exam was conducted online for the first time on September 20.
