Indore : Journalist fraternity of the city mourned the death of noted journalist MV Kamath and paid rich tributes to Kamath.

Kamath had started his journey as a chemist in Mumbai for a paltry salary of Rs 28. But, just after five months, he was attracted towards writing and journalism and joined the ‘ Free Press Journal’ in 1946. He wrote several books and articles on journalism and was writing “ Odd Man In” till his last breath.

Still, Kamath is a name which every journalism student knows and learns from his works. They have to ask the book- keeper to give him the book, professional journalism, written by Kamath.

Noted journalist Abhay Chhajlani said: “ Kamath was the second name of journalism. He was master of language and writing.

His books Gandhi- A spiritual journey and the book on PM Narendra Modi was a prolific piece of writing. Every journalist must follow him and read him to get the true knowledge of journalism.” HoD of Journalism and Mass Communication Department Dr Man Singh Parmar said that it is an end of a journalistic era.

“ No one can fill the gap of Kamath as he was working till his last breath. I also suggest my students to read the books written by him,” Parmar said.

General Secretary of Indore Press Club Arvind Tiwari said that he was also the part of Free Press Group and he still follows Kamath. “ Along with the prolific writer and journalist, he was a man with clear thoughts and vision.

There was no topic on which he was unaware. I read his every article and book and will surely miss his writings,” Tiwari added. Similarly, large number of young journalism student paid tribute to the ‘ Odd Man’ on Thursday.
