Indore : The third day of the Round Square Conference organised at Daly College was marked as Environment Day on Thursday. During the event, students were taught about recycling and waste management through different games and activities under the guidance of keynote speaker Ribhu Vohra — co-founder of WastelessIndia.
Considering the current situation in India, Vohra proposed to incorporate ‘Recycling’ as a subject in the school curriculum. He said, “In issues of garbage and sustainable development, it is difficult to approach the parents.”
He added that children are receptive to these ideas as they are the future guardians of the environment. Therefore, inculcating the importance of recycling, cleanliness and environment saving techniques can help save the future of environment.
Vohra organised a talk show with the delegates to discuss various innovative methods to save the environment. “You must understand different forms of waste in environment — linear and cyclical waste management,” he said.
He explained several behavioural changes that are needed in the society today. “Be aware of everything you consume from the environment,” he added in an effort to promote consumer behaviour in the society.
Through a fun card game called ‘Pick it up’, students were informed about how to separate and recycle waste through the informal sector while highlighting common waste items carrying high monetary value.
Later, students enjoyed garba dance in the evening while some health conscious students and delegates participated in a yoga workshop where they discovered the potential of their bodies through various simple and tough asanas.
