Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): Irked over the inordinate delay in the construction of drainage, residents of Ratlam on Saturday threatened to boycott ensuing civic body polls.

Residents of Chowmukhi Pool have put up several banners at the square, calling for the boycott of the upcoming elections as a mark of protest against the incomplete Choumukhi bridge and appealing to the people to join the movement. Construction of drainage commenced a few months ago. However, the work has reached a dead end and the drain is still half-built after two months. Earlier, two residents were injured as they fell off the incomplete end of the drainage. Residents in the past have made several complaints to the administration and the civic body but nothing has been done till now. Residents have put forth their demand for the completion of the drainage without any further delay failing which they have threatened to boycott the elections.

Agitated over the incomplete works, residents on Friday staged a demonstration on the issue.
