Ratlam: A poll song created by local artists here for promoting awareness towards polling is becoming popular and is being used in Rajathan, Maharashtra, Gujarat and other states besides Madhya Pradesh under SVEEP. Song writer and poet Ashish Dashottar on Tuesday said poll song “Apna hai adhikar, chalo matdan kare hum” conveys message to voters to come forward and vote to strengthen democracy.

Its starting line is, “Apna hai adhikar, chalo matdan kare hum, matdata hai to mat ka samman kare hum”. This song covers other aspects of polling like enrolling name in electoral lists, importance of voting etc. Dashottar said music is given by local artist Ashfaq Jawedi who has also sung this song.
The duration of the song is 5 minutes and 19 seconds. It has been recorded by Chetan Chauhan and Rajendra Verma has edited the video. Dashottar said preparing a song by local artists to encourage polling is voluntary contribution of local artists. He said song has been uploaded on YouTube. “We have received thousands of likes so far. Even Election Commission has appreciated poll song,” he added.
