Jaora (Ratlam district, Madhya Pradesh): Jaora resident Harendra Singh Tomar has been is selected for FIBA Asia Cup men's basketball championship to be held in Indonesia in August 2021.
He is the only player from Madhya Pradesh to have been selected, District Basketball Association president Dr Rajendra Pandey and secretary Vijay Pamecha said on Friday.
Harendra Singh Tomar, son of Mukesh Singh Tomar and resident of Khariwal Colony, has been selected to participate in a camp to be held in Bengaluru from June 30. Serbian coach Vaseline Matic will train Indian players in the camp.
In the past, Harendra Singh Tomar trained for SAIF Games in 2019 and was trained in 2020 by a Serbian coach. Harendra Singh has been representing the state since 2016.
Harendra Singh has done BE (mechanical) from Indore, MBA from IMS Indore, sports coaching post graduation diploma in computers from National Institute of Physical Education in Gwalior. At present, he is pursuing Bachelor of Physical Education degree from Bhopal.
Harendra Singh gives credit for his achievements to his sports guru VP Richharia, Madhya Pradesh Basketball Federation chairman Kulwinder Singh Gill, his coach and family members. During lockdown, Harendra Singh Tomar worked hard in the gym for 6 hours in the morning and in the field along with his teammates Abhishek Pamecha, Yuvraj Singh Chandrawat, Rajdev Singh Chandrawat.
On his achievement, District Basketball Association president Dr Rajendra Pandey, vice president Dr Suresh Mehta, Manudevsinh Chandrawat and all the members and players congratulated Harendra Singh Tomar and extended best wishes.
