Indore: A police constable went on rampage in Murai Mohalla late on Sunday night in an inebriated state. He reportedly hit two 2-wheeler riders and a woman pedestrian before he was caught by local residents.
Finding that the man was a cop and inebriated, the residents took him to the police station. On their way to the police station, the crowd met another constable, who tried to rescue the culprit but the residents would have none of it. The residents along with corporator Jagdish Dhaneria crated a ruckus at the police station demanding action against the errant cop.
Tragedy averted
A big branch of an old tree near the DRP Lines dargah snapped off on Monday morning. Being early morning and no traffic on the road, a major tragedy was averted. The road remained closed for two to three hours before it was open for traffic. The incident reminded of the incident that occurred at Mama-Bhanje ki Dargah some time ago.
At that time the IMC had undertaken a drive to remove trees that were deemed a threat to public and property but with the passage of time, the drive lost its steam.
Nine nabbed by police
During drive against persons against whom warrants are pending, the city police nabbed nine persons on Sunday after an exhaustive combing operation. One of the accused reportedly hid in a tunnel dug up in his home during the drive but was nabbed by the police. Vitthal alias Victor, Naveen, Pramod Lambu and Nitin Shendi were among those nabbed by the police.
Shopkeeper hit by cake
A bakery shop owner was hit by a cake on Monday. The incident occurred at Ajanta Bakery near Harsiddhi Temple. Rahul Kachwah, a resident of Tataya Sarwate Nagar, had ordered a cake. On Monday Rahul picked up the cake and when the shop owner Sagar Pahuja demanded payment, Rahul threw the cake at him, damaged the shop and fled the scene. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
