Indore : The Indore Municipal Corporation’s (IMC) plan to lift garbage from various wards for five days a week received a lukewarm response on the Day-1 of the drive, on Monday.

The drive, which started under ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ on Monday morning, concluded before anyone could join it. However, senior IMC officials claimed it to be a big hit.

They claimed that at least 15 tons of garbage was lifted from each ward on the very first day of the drive. The garbage was later shifted to Trenching Ground.

Informing about the drive, In-charge of Cleanliness and Solid Waste Management Department Rajendra Rathore said, “We started the drive at 8 in the morning and finished by 10:30. Meanwhile, all the marked locations were covered by our teams. We’ll now move to other locations.”

The civic authority has decided to lift garbage from one ward of a zone in a day. In the same sequence, the drive was initiated. Meanwhile, sources said that the drive got poor response from people.
