Police book 3 money lenders for abetting suicide of builder

Indore :  Family members and relatives of the builder, who committed suicide over harassment by the illegal money lenders, blocked road in protest against the incident in Vijay Nagar area on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, police have booked three persons for abetting suicide of builder Hemant Goyal, 50 of Sun City. He had consumed poison and ended his life on late Monday night.

Goyal’s family members, relatives and a large number of friends staged a roadblock at the Bombay Hospital Square demanding immediate arrestof the persons whose names were mentioned in the suicide note left behind by him.

Police force led by CSP Vijay Nagar Vipul Srivastav reached the spot and pacified the protestor assuring appropriate action in the matter.

The protestor relented and ended the protest only after a case of abetting suicide was registered against the three persons – Nawal Garg, Ashwin Mehta and Sharad Kale at Vijay Nagar police station.

SP East OP Tripathi told Free Press a case of abetting suicide and Debtor’s Protection Act was registered against the three persons whose names were mentioned in the suicide note by Hemant. No arrest was made so far. After a report from handwriting and forensic experts further action will be taken in the case, said the SP.

Hemant’s son Mayank alleged that his father was under pressure as goons sent by Naval Garg used to harass him often at his office and even at his house for repayment of loan.

On Monday night, he had received a phone call from Nawal Garg that his father is not well at his office in Safire House building, opposite C-21 Mall at AB Road and his condition is deteriorating.

He immediately rushed there and took his father to hospital. However, Hemant was declared brought dead.

During preliminary investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the possession of Hemant where he mentioned names of three persons including Naval Garg, Ashwin Mehta and Sharad Kale responsible for his extreme step.

Did Lok Ayukta cop play a role in suicide?

A former reader attached with a senior Lok Ayukta official used to recover Rs 4.5 lakh as interest every month from builder Hemant Goyal, highly placed sources said. However, CSP Vijay Nagar Vipul Srivastav denied having knowledge of any such information during initial investigation and claimed that names of only three persons mentioned in the suicide note against whom a case was registered.
