Nigeria to replicate Indore’s Dawa Bazaar: Delegates prepare plans

Indore : Attracted by the way of selling all type of medicines under one roof, a 12-member delegation of Nigerian government visited state’s biggest medicines’ market, Dawa Bazaar, here on Thursday.

The 12-member team includes the members of Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Health, Association of Pharmaceutical Importers of Nigeria, and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.

The members of delegation appreciated the work process in Dawa Bazaar and apprised the Dawa Bazaar Association to make a replica of the market in their country as well.

Representative of Health Ministry of Nigeria Stephen Esumobi said that it is prohibited in Nigeria to open more than one medical store in the perimeter of 200 meters.

“After inspecting the work process in Dawa Bazaar, we will recommend our government to revoke such rule and to start similar markets there as well,” Esumobi said.

Addressing media on the felicitation programme of Nigerian delegation, Director of Aquatic Group Dheeraj Lulla said that it all happened while trading medicines with Nigeria that their ministry was impressed by us and decided to pay us a visit.

“The guests learnt about how all the medicines were provided at the same place, consumers have access to different options, trust factor between exchangers and transparency,” he said.

He further said that the guests also visited Ujjain’s medicine market. However, they seemed to be amazed by Indore’s Dawa Bazaar. They have also prepared initial plans to construct its replica in Nigeria.
