Indore : The proposed Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Nayta Mundla got the nod from the district administration, on Thursday. After getting required approval from the Town and Country Planning (TNCP) Department, Bhopal, the Indore Development Authority (IDA) will complete the project well before Simhasta-2016.
The need for ISBT necessitated as lakhs of people would come for the Simhasta Mela, schedule to be held in April next year.
In an order issued on Thursday, the district administration transferred 3.164 hectare land to the Transport Department for the ISBT. The Transport Dept is now approaching to the TNCP Dept for change in land use from residential to public use.
The administrative sources said that the land belongs to Survey Nos 253, 254 and 256. As soon as the land use changed by the TNCP, the IDA will carry out construction work of the ISBT. Since, it’s meant for the Simhasta, the IDA would complete construction of the ISBT before the religious fair.
According to an estimate, over 5 crore devotees would visit Simhasta and Indore will the major sub-station for them. Thus, the district administration has identified four locations for the ISBT about 2 months ago.
Rly preparations underway
The Railways has also step up expansion of its passenger’s facility. The construction of two new island platforms at Bal Vinay Mandir and Laxmibai Nagar are on. Similarly, the gauge conversion of Platform No 1 is also underway. The construction works of both the platforms and gauge conversion would be over by January next year. The GM of Western Railway has already announced that the Indore-Mhow section gauge conversion would be completed by February. In view of heavy rush of passengers and trains, the railways will use Mhow railway station as a yard for the trains.
