Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): On Narmada Jayanti, loading vehicles will be banned on Indore-Khandwa highway starting on the night of February 3. These vehicles will be redirected from Deshgaon to Khargone. It is expected that on February 4 crowd will grow at Mortakka and Khedi Ghat hence Narmada bridge will be made one-way.

Vehicles coming from Barwah will be directed through the aqueduct. To manage the expected crowd of over one lakh devotees coming for Narmada bath, the administration has made it necessary to get permission for events and bhandaras in Omkareshwar.

Vehicles will be allowed into Omkareshwar only as needed. Celebrations will take place in Omkareshwar and Mortakka on the birth anniversary of Goddess Narmada with various religious events happening throughout the day. To keep traffic flow smooth, the administration has banned all loading vehicles on the highway, except for heavy vehicles.

Heavy vehicles from Deshgaon will be sent towards Dhamnod on Mumbai-Agar Highway. There is already a ban on vehicles weighing more than 20 tonnes on Mortakka bridge. On February 4, no vehicles will be allowed to enter Omkareshwar. Vehicles will be parked at designated areas like Kuber Bhandari temple complex, Tamrakar Parking and Helipad Parking. The administration is taking steps to ensure safety and manage the crowd effectively.
