Nagda (Ujjain district, Madhya Pradesh): There is an atmosphere of joy in the area after the announcement that a new medical college will come up in Ujjain district shortly. The announcement was made by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a review meeting held recently.
With opening of a medical college in the district, health facilities will not only increase but at the same time, better health facilities will be available at lower price. The NTCP 's 500-hectare government land near Makla village can be used for opening a medical college, observers say.
If the medical college is approved on this land, then residents of Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Ujjain districts will benefit as it is easily accessible for them.
With the start of medical college on NTPC land, the government will not have to spend much amount for the acquisition as it with union government. Residents said there is hardly any other land available of such a large size in the area.
