Indore : While State Public Service Commission exam-2012 is already in a controversy following question paper leak, the PSC-2013 conducted by Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has also invited a row over the Commission’s move of awarding bonus marks for wrong questions asked in the exam instead of cancelling the exam.

Crying foul over the MPPSC’s stand, a group of nearly 50 candidates turned up at the MPPSC office on Wednesday and demanded cancellation of the exam.

“As per the MPPSC, as many as 16 questions in two papers of PSC-2013 were wrong. If so many questions were wrong, the MPPSC should have cancelled the exam instead of granting bonus marks to the wrong questions,” the students told this reporter and handed over a memorandum to MPPSC officials requesting them to make the exam null and void and conduct it afresh.

The MPPSC officials assured the candidates of keeping their demand before the Board. The candidates also urged them not to announce results of the exam until their grievances were addressed. The MPPSC has planned to declare results in this week. In the memorandum, the candidates said that the MPPSC’s move of granting bonus marks for error-prone questions was totally wrong as it would affect the merit list.

Citing a case of Maharashtra Public Service Commission exam, they claimed that the High Court there had cancelled the exams following the Commission’s decision of awarding bonus marks for questions carrying four marks.

In MPPSC exam-2013, as many as 16 questions carrying two marks each (total 32 marks) were wrong. Following such a major goof-up, the MPPSC should have cancelled the exam without a second thought but it instead handed out bonus marks.

It is to be noted that 12 questions in General Studies paper and four questions in General Aptitude paper were found wrong in PSC-2013.
