Indore : Despite several bus accidents, the city bus operators have not been following the norms of having two exits, emergency exit and other security measures in the buses.
The operators are also neglecting directives of Transport Minister Bhupendra Singh.
After the Panna incident when more than 20 people lost their lives, the minister had directed the RTO officials to check fitness of buses and also urged them to implement security measures properly.
The RTO officials had also started a campaign against the buses which stayed not more than couple of days and the bus operators again fixed seats and blocked the emergency exits of the buses. “Every operator has to follow security measures like two exits, emergency exit, fire extinguisher and others. We have directed them to follow the directions and if anyone is not following, we will take action against him,” RTO MP Singh said.
Replying on no action on buses, he said that they used to check buses regularly and would start a campaign again.
It is to be noted that more than 15 people were killed in a bus mishap near Chhindwara and the officials found that the bus had changed its route.
