Indore : Bring to an end the speculations that it may defer the move to bring medical and dental colleges under its fold for another one year, Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU) in Jabalpur has issued a circular stating that it would hold pre-university examinations for 2014-15 batch from June 16.

So far, the colleges at their level used to conduct pre-university examinations. Nearly a month after pre-university examinations, the Medical University is likely to hold first professional exams of 2014-15 batch of nearly 25 medical and dental colleges of the state that has sought affiliation from the varsity.

“After pre-university exams, the university will hold first professional exams either in last week of July or first week of August,” said Dr MI Rathore, dean of Mahatma Gandhi Medical (MGM) College.

“Theory papers will be same for all colleges and will be sent by university before commencement of examination. Evaluation process of pre-university examination will be done by the college itself as per the scheme of the university,” the circular issued by the university says.

As per Medical Council of India (MCI) schedule, the studies of first professional have to be completed by May 31 and examinations are to be conducted in June.

But as the affiliation process stretched, the MPMSU has to delay the exams. It, however, intimated the DAVV that it would conduct exams for first professional students of MBBS and BDS courses for 2014-15 batch.

The MPMSU has asked the DAVV to hold exams to other professional students. Though the MPMSU has resolved to conduct first professional exams, it is facing preliminary hiccups due to lack of infrastructure and staff.

Vice chancellor, Dr DP Lokwani said, “It’s true that we have limited hands but still we are going ahead with the idea of conducting first professional examinations. Dates of the exams will be announced shortly.”
