Indore: The State Cyber Cell has arrested a youth for creating fake profiles of a girl on Instagram and uploading her photos after editing them on the Instagram story on Thursday. The accused had an argument with her brother and he wanted to take revenge on him by defaming his sister.
SP (cyber cell) Jitendra Singh said that a girl, who is a college student in the city, had lodged a complaint that an unidentified person had created her fake profile on Instagram and posted her objectionable photos, which were morphed, in the storyline.
The investigation of the case was handed over to inspector Jitendra Chouhan. During the investigation, the officials found that the profiles of the girl were created by one Sawan Rathore of Banganga area. Later, he was detained by the cyber cell officials when he allegedly confessed to creating more than one fake profile of the girl on Instagram and editing her photo before posting it on the story section of Instagram.
The accused informed the cyber cell that he had an argument with the girl's brother a few days ago after which the accused wanted to defame his sister and he had created some fake profiles of the girl. Interestingly, the accused has only studied up to class X and he had learnt to prepare fake profiles from Youtube.
