Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The relief from deadly vector-borne disease remained short-lived as 9 more cases were found positive on Sunday. The health department had not reported any new cases of dengue for the last one week, except for 15 cases reported on Tuesday and claimed that no new case was found.
However, private hospital administration claimed that there is no relief in cases as they are still getting patients suffering from dengue.
“There was from dengue as there were no cases in the last few days. However, we received reports of nine new dengue cases with which the total number of cases increased to 828, so far. Out of 9 patients, four were males and five females,” District Malaria Officer Dr Daulat Patel said.
He added that the total number of males suffering from the disease is 504 while the total number of females is 324. As many as 202 children fell prey to the disease.
Sources in the health department said that many health officials holding crucial posts are on leave on account of the festivities due to which cases were not reported in the last one week.
Officials expect drop in cases, thanks to firecrackers on Diwali
While all efforts of the health department proved ineffective to control the menace of the disease, officials believe that the cases would come down as a large number of firecrackers were burst and heavy smoke was generated on Diwali.
“The smoke generated on Diwali might decrease the mosquito menace in the city and cases of dengue would come down,” health officials said.
