DHAR (MADHYA PRADESH): Dhar district administration on Wednesday organised a special COVID-19 vaccination camp for transgenders as they fall in the 'high risk' category, an official said. The camp was held in partnership with Seva Bharati and as many 10 transgenders were vaccinated during the camp. The transgender appealed to the people to get vaccinated.
A transgender Zhora, said that by getting the vaccine, your family and society will be safe along with you. To make the general public aware, the transgender community will go from house to house and also said that people have to understand that the only way to avoid this disease is to get the vaccine.
Briefing about the camp, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Divya Patel informed that the transgender community roams the city and its members come in contact with several people, they are classified in the highrisk category. Therefore, we arranged a vaccination camp for them, he added.
Patel said that since this people don’t have any relevant documents, they are facing problem to get them vaccinate. Taking cognisance into the matter, Dhar collector Alok Kumar Singh gave instructions and asked to organise a special camp.
Aadhar cards are also being made in these so that they can avail benefits of every scheme of the government.
