Indore : Police have arrested three persons in connection with kidnapping of a son of a city-based businessman. It turns out that the victim had conspired with his friends and faked his own kidnapping and demand ransom from his father to pay off his gambling debts.
According to the police, Sudhir Waswani, resident of Kalindi Park, Shrinagar Extension had lodged a missing persons report in respect of his son Jatin on June 20. As per the complaint, Jatin had left his house at noon to collect money from someone and never returned.
The family tried to contact him through his mobile and got no response. They also called his friends and all relatives and finally reported the matter to the police. During investigation, a hospital from Lalitpur called and said Jaitn was admitted in the hospital.
The police found that Jaitn had gone to Laitpur along with his friends. Throughout the journey they had consumed liquor. Once in Lalitpur, they cooked a kidnapping story and sought Rs 10 lakh ransom from Jatin’s father.
It appears that Jatin lost a lot of money in betting during IPL and had tried to borrow money from his friend Rajywardhan Singh. When the loan did not materialise and as creditors were pressing him, Jatin faked his own kidnapping.
In this connection, the police arrested Rupendra Parmar of Dheeraj Nagar, Golu alias Mithun of Somnath Ki Nai chaal and Pushpendra Singh resident of village Udapura, District Lalitpur. Jatin and others have been arrested already and the police are preparing to submit charge sheet in the court now.
