Indore : Lack of skilled manpower problem is hampering growth of the manufacturing sector. Resultantly, units are refraining from stretching their manufacturing capacities, said Yogesh Joshi, Director of Kaamdenu Machines Tools Pvt. Ltd. Joshi said there is a great deal of ease of doing business in Madhya Pradesh. But lack of skilled man power creates a deterrent. “Otherwise, other facilities are available in Indore like supply of 24 hour power, availability of the raw mater,” he said.

“We receive orders from the big-wig companies like JSW and top worth companies. But the dearth of skilled labourers prevents us from stretching our manufacturing capacities,” he said. ITI course design  should be changed Lauding the courses started by Indo-German Tool Room (IGTR), Joshi said this design of the course could be the problem solving model for the SMEs.  The IGTR has divided its 3 years course into 2 years course and one year training at any unit and whosoever candidate takes the training at whatsoever units, he receives stipends from the unit.

This practice gives real training to the candidates and also provides them an opportunity to continue working for the company even after completing the course. Joshi said that the candidates training from IGTR prefer to seek job in the big-wig heavy industries and are also absorbed by them. Ultimately, SME units have to get the ITI trained candidates, which do not have IGRT-like training.

“Their course should be designed so that they will come to take training in the SME units and later after completing the course they would have the option to get the employment in the same unit, where they did receive the training,” he said. Growth rate could jump Joshi said that the average growth rate of the last 3 years of the manufacturing sector is registered just 4% and if the present status-quo is maintained this could be around 7% in coming 3 years.

If the suggestions of getting skilled manpower are followed, the growth rate may jump to 10% per anum in the coming 3 years.
Aim to be most competitive company Speaking about his endevour, Joshi said to embark on a journey of success one needs the tools of preparedness, foresight and strategical planning . These lead to the path of growth and high quality operation. It’s our endevour to be one of the most competative companies in the industry with emphasis on efficiency in operations, reliability for customers and thrust on total customer satisfaction.
